I have two … A Poem
I have two boobs.
Bigger than some
Smaller than most
And that’s okay
Because no matter what others look like,
And no matter what others say,
They are still cute
And pretty in every way.
I have two feet.
Pigeon toed
Oddly shaped
The joint on my big toe sticks out more than normal
But I just wear wide shoes with padding so they don’t hurt.
They require more work,
But that’s okay
Because they are my own.
I have two ankles.
Weak and unstable
The soles of my shoes are angled
Because my ankles cave inward.
I trip and loose my balance everyday
But that’s okay.
Because no matter how many times I fall,
I always get up.
I have two dots on my forearm.
No, they’re not freckles
No, they’re not birthmarks
I was not born with them
But they are here to stay.
They came from pain
And an obsession with fire
Because knifes were too scary.
We can’t be strong every day
Sometimes we slip up
And that’s okay.
Because we’re still fighting.
I have two eyes.
Hazel and tired.
Still learning to love what they see in the mirror
And that’s okay.
Humans are imperfect
And that’s okay.
Our minds to tell our eyes that what they’re seeing is ugly
And that’s not okay.
I am pretty
Even if I’m so skinny I can see my spine and ribs
I have made progress.
Progress can be slow
And that’s okay.
Just never stop fighting
Just never stop trying
Just never stop learning
Just take one step at a time
Because it’s okay to be slow.
Loving yourself is hard
But I know you can do it.
I have one heart
You have one, too.
And together we can make it through this
Because I believe in you
Everything will be okay.
