The motion to repeal Net Neutrality has been passed in a 3-2 vote
Before everyone losses their shit, I will like to urge everyone to talk a deep breath and focus on the following:
1: This cannot go into immediate effect.
2: There is still many issues that WILL be addressed by the Congress, Supreme Court, and many other government officials have a current say in the false comments, stolen idenities, denial of public hearings, and many other issues that the FCC did not address.
3: CALL. YOUR. OFFICALS. Do NOT give up, just because the vote has passed, don’t you DARE stop. Make this shit go front-page, make some NOISE.
Why is Net Neutrality important? Because it keeps internet service providers from blocking or slowing down websites they don’t like or agree with. It also prevents you from paying a separate fee to access your email, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and any other website you want or need to use.
Sounds bad doesn’t it? Eventually the fees will add up, especially if there’s a lot of websites you want or need to use, and you likely will end up paying more then what you pay for internet right now.
So what happens if you can’t afford this?
You lose access to all social media (Facebook, instagram, snapchat, etc…). Depending on the person, this may not be a big deal.
You can still call and text, although some people may only know people through social media. Some people may not have phones they can use. Many people rely on these internet friends for support if they have none in their offline life. Especially people in difficult and abusive family situations.
You will lose access to your email. In this day and age, this is important. It’s used for jobs, sending important information, and keeps accounts you have on other websites safe.
Anyone who is depressed and suicidal will lose access to support and help they need. I don’t know about you, but I’ve seen very few suicide hotlines shown outside of the internet. Some people may even need suicide hotline specific to their needs. I know that an LGBT one and a text only one exists. These would be very important and life saving for people.
Here are those numbers I mentioned, just incase you want to save them for yourself.
National Suicide Prevention Lifeline 1-800-273-8255
The Trevor Life Line (LGBT suicide prevention hotline)
866-488-7386
The Crisis Text Line
Text 741741
You will lose access to so much information. The news can’t tell you everything and is sometimes biased. It’s good to be able to look at multiple sources of information to make your own conclusions. Also, books don’t stay accurate. They become more and more inaccurate as time passes. And buying new books is expensive. I usually don’t even see library’s and schools get new books because it costs so much.
Speaking of school, a lot of homework requires the internet. If you can’t afford it, you will fail. Colleges might have to add an extra fee for students because they will have to pay for it too. Students will be in even more debt.
If you own a small business, you will lose customers and your business. Customers don’t want to visit your shop if they have to pay just to access it. That would be like trying to go grocery shopping, but you have to pay to get in. You will lose money. I myself am trying to start a small business, but if Net Neutrality is gone, my business is dead before it could even start.
Youtubers will lose money. I get that maybe some of you don’t care, because you think they should get a “real job”. But they entertain people. Who else entertains people? Actors/actresses and comedians. They deserve to keep making money doing what they love.
Does Net Neutrality benefit anyone? Only the FCC and internet service providers who want even more money then they make. Does it benefit the people in anyway? If you’ve read everything above, I would hope you would agree that it does not.
Now back to what I said in the beginning, the FCC voted to repeal Net Neutrality. Is this the end of the internet? No. Not at all. It has to go through congress first. So I urge you to use this website to email and call them. Tell them not to let this pass and why Net Neutrality is so important.
I’ve seen a lot of posts on my dash tonight about users who are threatening suicide, with other Tumblr members posting in effort to try to get ahold of them. I think you all should see this:
IF THERE IS EVER A TUMBLR USER WHO HAS POSTED A GOOD-BYE MESSAGE, SUICIDE NOTE, VIDEO, OR ANYTHING OF THE SORT, PLEASE FOLLOW THIS POST.
1. Scroll to the top of your dashboard.
2. See the circular question mark icon at the top? It’s the third one over from your home symbol. Click on that, and a screen similar to the one in the picture will come up.
3. Where you can type in questions, the box with the magnifying glass at the top, type in the word “suicide.”
4. Click on the first link that shows up. It should say, “Pass the URL of the blog on to us.”
5. Type in the user’s URL and tell Tumblr admin that the user is contemplating suicide and has posted a message indicating that they are going through with it or will be attempting. Hit send! Tumblr administration will perform a number of actions to contact the user and take the necessary steps to prevent the suicide.
TUMBLR: THIS COULD SAVE A USER’S LIFE. PLEASE DO NOT IGNORE SUICIDE THREATS.
Reblog this to keep other users aware. Suicide isn’t a joke, and neither is someone’s life. If you didn’t know this, someone else may not, either. Pass it on.

I couldn’t save a life once because I didn’t know, but now maybe this will be the resurrection of someone’s ending story. The epilogue that carries them to their proper closing.
