BREAKING: ACLU takes Trump to court over Muslim refugee and immigrant ban, judge grants stay

  • The American Civil Liberties Union took the Trump administration to federal court Saturday night over its new restrictions on immigrants and refugees coming to the U.S. — a policy many have linked to President Donald Trump’s promised Muslim ban.
  • After about an hour of arguments in a New York City court, a judge granted a stay effectively blocking Trump’s executive order and barring customs officials from detaining immigrants and refugees at U.S. airports, according to Dale Ho, an ACLU representative. Read more

DONALD TRUMP signed an executive order that effectively bans Muslims from entering America for at least four months. And he knowingly signed it on Holocaust Remembrance Day. I cannot begin to tell you how much more perverse that makes him and the entire Republican Party.

And of course the #AllLivesMatter crowd is suddenly on mute.

This is all about white supremacy and has nothing to do with national security.

Refugees unlawfully detained in airports after Trump’s immigration executive order

  • On Friday, President Donald Trump signed an executive order suspending the nation’s refugee settlement program and barring immigrants from countries with “would-be terrorists,” namely Iraq, Syria, Iran, Sudan, Libya, Somalia and Yemen.
  • The executive order went into immediate effect, meaning refugees on planes to the United States landed in a nation newly hostile to their presence. 
  • Though they were given permission to settle here by the U.S. State Department, after a long, complex vetting process, they are now being detained in U.S. airports, waiting for news of their fate. Read more.
