Years after Sesame Street, Elmo has become a published scientist and very highly ranked in his field. Yet he still can’t shake the stigma of being both a former child star and a muppet.

He was tired of the jokes. Tired of the teasing and the disgusting comments on his former life. Tired of being asked where the puppet master was. Tired of being told her never be more than a t.v. clown.

“It’ll really be Elmos World now.” He chuckled darkly as he finished the last peices of his nuclear machine.

It turns out, knowledge truly is power. Now, the more knowledge a person knows/possesses, the stronger, faster, and more powerful they become.

Books had become a status symbol.

The more books you had the more knowledge you must have accrued. A library of facts and power at your fingertips at all times. People began to avoid confrontation with those that had the books. Librarian faces were well known and respected for the strength they held.

You had gained quite a reputation yourself. You had managed to fill every room in your house with dictionaries and scientific studies. You had a large window in the front so on lookers could see how powerful you were by the novels stacked high in every visible space. You were a force to be reckoned with, they said.

It was a good thing they never challenged you because you couldn’t read anyways.

wheres all the support for the emotional abuse victims

no, seriously. victims of emotional abuse have it hard because they do not have the physical marks or the records to “prove” to someone they were hurt and are hurting. most people will not take emotional abuse as seriously as physical abuse, saying “you should get over it” or “sticks and stones”. thats fucking bullshit.

emotional abuse victims who have been forced to do or say or be things you never wanted to, i love you.

emotional abuse victims who have been gaslighted and manipulated to the point where you no longer know what is real, i care for you.

emotional abuse victims who are told they will never be loved by anyone else and they are not a good person, you are amazing.

emotional abuse victims who feel manipulative and often catch themselves mirroring actions of their abusers and feel sick to their stomachs because theyre “turning into them”, you are not them and never will be. you are so much better than that.

emotional abuse victims who have to live every day suffering because nobody understands how messed up you are from what they said or did or made you do, you arent alone.

anyone who reads this, i care for you. please support all victims of abuse every single day because they deserve it just like they deserve the love and care those in the past have failed to provide them

Thank you so much for this im actually crying

Okay I’m sobbing thank you for that..

I’m close to tears because I needed to and that goes for anyone else out there a victim to emotional abuse please know you are loved and cared for ❤

90% of this site doesn’t understand the difference between an excuse and an explanation

in an apology, regardless of your mental health, using your mental illness as an excuse to try and get off scot-free is so fucking shitty. if you manipulate and abuse someone, your immediate response SHOULDN’T BE “i’m sorry BUT I HAVE _______ so stop being ableist :/“

your response SHOULD be “i’m sorry, here’s an explanation for why i did that. my intent/reasoning doesn’t change what i did, nor make it okay. i understand if you can’t accept my apology.” can’t believe someone has to teach you guys how to apologize like this is kindergarten but here we are.

also, joking about everyone’s anger 2 seconds later only proves that you have not learned your lesson at all and are just trying to weasel your way out of drama.

surprisingly, a lot of y’all fucking do that and need to stop that lmao

“A torture for the eyes”: Chinese moviegoers think Black Panther is just too black

It’s yet another reminder of China’s limited exposure to race. Last month, in the annual Lunar New Year TV gala by China’s state broadcaster CCTV, producers had a Chinese actress in blackface and cast a black actor to play a monkey. In October, a Chinese museum hosted an exhibition titled “This is Africa” that juxtaposed images of black people to animals, including monkeys and cheetahs

Honestly, can we not rain on black ppls parades and upload this stuff? non black ppl are ALWAYS mad , foaming at the mouth to the point of insanity over us. it needs to stop being highlighted, tell them to die mad about it.

show us some of the rare occasions non black people just minded their business and fucked off, i’d rather see that

I also have this sneaking suspicion that execs will use this to continue justifying their lack of diversity in movies.

Antiblackness is everywhere.

It can also highlight how we don’t necesarily need to pander to China as much as they’re trying to do these days since this movie was a massive hit regardless of this bullshit.

Guys, as a Chinese person, I’m not going to lie, there is a lot of anti-black racism. But even with racist reviewers, the overall review score on Douban, the most popular movie review site, is 6.7/10 (and that’s averaged from 100,152 reviews). Compare this to the new Lara Croft movie, which is at 6.5/10, or Ex-Files 3, one of China’s most popular romcom franchises, which is at 5.7/10. For every racist asshole, there’s a new Black Panther fan and there’s already some great fanart (some of which has made its way to tumblr)

And I can’t stress enough how well it’s done in the box office. In one week, it has made more money than Star Wars TLJ did in its entire run ($66,646,202 vs $42,577,974) and it had double the opening weekend than what Jumanji had, about $20,000,000 more than that of Captain Strange, Guardians of the Galaxy 2, and $10,000,000 more than Thor Ragnarok. Black Panther is kicking everyone’s butt, so if execs do anything, it’s because of their own shitty racism.

Also please consider that due to the movie’s high-profile, racists, as well as trolls and bots are flocking to it like flies. For having been out for just a week, the movie has a huge amount of ratings and reviews, and even just flicking through the one star ones, I can tell that some of them are trolls. This is definitely progress and is making an impact.

Thank you for the added perspective. As @introspectivenavelgazer said, this kind of article may also be a way of deflecting from the racism of American audiences as well.

I also don’t want us to get hung up on the ideas, or the news stories, of various people not liking us. I think black people waste far too much of our time and attention on anti-black racists in particular, giving their words and attitudes a gravity they simply do not deserve. Why should Chinese people who disliked this movie get the same airtime, or more, than Chinese people who liked it. And I know there had to be because the movie cleaned up in China. So why aren’t those people’s words being reported?

I just saw a video on Koreans who loved it. Yeah, they’re not Chinese, but still, that video isnt getting as much airtime as this news article, which keeps coming across my dash everyday. I’m tired of seeing it. I went to YouTube to specifically to like and follow videos of Africans and Asians having specific, and socially aware discussions about the movie, and found plenty. I’ve seen none of those videos on Tumblr, though.

I think we should stop focusing on people who don’t like us. We know people don’t. That ain’t new, and they aint saying nothing new, or noteworthy, about black people. We should stop giving them our emotional time.

And more importantly, I’m tired of seeing this kind of shit on my dash. The next person who sends it across my dash, cuz I really don’t want to read this shit, is getting unfollowed, cuz I got it. They don’t like us. Tell me something new. Tell me something useful because the only purpose circulating this serves is making black people feel some type of negative way.
